Phil Hellmuth and Annie Duke leave UB.com

Yes poker surfers and surfettes you heard right.  The two biggest names for UB.com have mutually parted ways with the site formerly know as Ultimate Bet.

Phil Hellmuth Jr. appears to have left UB.com either on his own accord or theirs. Neither has really said just yet what the reasoning is, so we will speculate.

1. Phil Hellmuth has something lined up with WSOP.com in sponsorship and teaching poker classes
2. He has some sort of deal/sponsorship with Aria Resort and Casino
3. Is planning on becoming a professional dancer after he appears on "Dancing With the Stars"
4. UB.com kicked him and Annie Duke to the curb in order to make way for their revamped and younger demographic. (feel free to sign up JohnnyKahuna)
5. All of the above

We speculate something along the lines of 1 & 2 with a little 4 mixed in there.

Annie Duke on the other hand did at least did say that she was leaving UB.com because she would like to explore some other avenues of business and personal growth.
Speculation, well she did just get engaged and she has 4 kids, so we imagine she needs some time to herself and with her family. On the business side, she did do well on Celebrity Apprentice (we thought she should've won it) so we can assume that on the business end of things she either has something lined up or will have no problem.

• Rumors abound that PokerStars has slipped in and bought up the sponsorship for GSN's High Stakes Poker. Full Tilt Poker has been the sponsor for the past seasons and even though none of the players ever wore logo's or advertisements Full Tilt is still concerned that people would be confused as to which site their players are associated with. What does this mean for the new season..check back and we'll let you know as soon as we do
• Tom Dwan inched his way back to a $63k win in his "Durrrr" Challenge, that still puts him down around $500k for the challenge thus far against "Jungleman12".  Dwan was up $354k during the session but dropped some $200k in  a pot and then  had some more misfortune when he flopped the nut flush against the 'jungles' two pair and lost his internet connection forcing the hand to be checked down. No offense to Dwan but if you're playing pots worth $200k you may want to make sure you have a solid connection, yet we're sure this swing didn't affect him too much. He did tweet that he was a bit tilted after that hand.
• The PPA announced that unfortunately the bill proposed by Senate Majority leader Harry Reid was dead in the water. But We'll keep trying!!!
• Party Gaming co-founder Anurag Dikshit (yeah that's his real name) was finally sentenced to to 1 year probation and a $300 million dollar fine (yeah million) by a New York court.  Dikshit has also agreed as part of the sentencing to cooperate in an ongoing investigation with federal prosecutors. Dikshit had sold off his shares in Party Gaming, the parent company of Party Poker, and admitted to violating the Wire Act of 1961 two years ago. Party Gaming is currently merging with BWIN the Austrian online sports book and casino/poker site.

• WSOP Main Event Champion will be finalized after 8pm tonight when heads up play starts
• WSOP Player of the Year award went to Frank Kassela who narrowly beat out Mike Mizrachi by 50pts
• PokerStars announced it's Ladies PCA Event will be held Jan.14-15th
• BetFair Poker opened up a Canada site
• Vanessa Rousso is still HOT! and we don't mean running cards hot, we mean HOT!

High Stakes Poker season 7

GSN recently announced it will begin tapping season 7 of it's popular High Stakes Poker series this Nov. 18-20th. We suspect some of the regulars will show up, such as Doyle Brunson, Phil Ivey, Phil Laak, Antonio Esfandiari, Eli Elezra, Tom Dwan, Patrik Antonius and Barry Greenstein. Hopefully we'll see the return of Andrew Robl, David Benyamine, Phil Galfond and Phil Hellmuth, just to name a few. We're unsure as to weather nor not Daniel Negreanu will return due to his affiliation with Poker Stars "Big Game" which we imagine is competition for the HSP series. • On the Full Tilt Blog site Howard Lederer suggested that there should be a minimum age requirement of around 40 for the Poker Hall of Fame. Honestly that sounds like a good idea
• Randy Couture's Charity event for the Xtreme Couture GI Foundation being held at the Golden Nugget in Vegas is going to be open to the public with first place getting $10,000. The Event is Oct. 30th
• Dave "cates" Benefield is winning the Durrrr Challenge 2 by about $700k

Ok I know it's turning fall and all but I had to get out of the states for some warm weather. So me and a buddy flew down to Aruba for some fun in the sun. Soon as we landed we were feeling good, cause we

brought a  case of 10 Cane Rum with us and had already cracked it open. I headed for the beach while Drew hit the local market for some food to grill out. I found a cool ass spot down from a resort and dug out a pit for some coals and some grilling. We gained the attention of some ladies who were 10's in their own right. We opened up the case and started the unofficial Johnny Kahuna 10 Cane Rum Party and believe me it was a throw down! We grilled lobster, corn, potatoes and a mass amount of veggies. One of the girls asked "what do you like so much about this rum" I looked at her deep tanned face and said  "babe, it's like they took fruit dipped it in caramel and honey and heated it up for us" she smiled back and said "yeah, you're right. so you coming to dance." 'Hell Yeah' I thought to myself and dance we did. Afterwards we all played in the ocean then dried off around the burning coals. I would tell you more but there's just to much to tell. Just know it was a blast! and now you know my favorite rum. See you in the surf and at the poker tables, cowabunga!

Whooo! It's been a long time, 9days to be exact, since we had a Tidal Wave of news and now we have a lot. So here it is.

• We've seen Dwan lose massive pots to Jungleman12 and eventually win some back.
• Phil Ivey and Isildur1 ran super deep in the WSOPE Main Event with Ivey busting out in 19th place.
• Gus Hansen makes it to the final of the WSOPE Heads Up tourney and WINS 1st Bracelet!
• Seattle still bans online poker...BOOOO them!
• ESPN3 streams slightly delayed but otherwise live poker play from the WSOPE Championship Event
• Patrik Antonius has a steller weekend on the high stakes tables at Full Tilt w/a $1million dollar w/e
• "Ziigmund" loses and breaks even for the year so far.
• James Bard becomes the WSOPE Main Event to the tune of 830,401lbs which = A buttload of us dollars..but he's english so the conversion doesn't matter anyway..but it's a lot (ok fine $1.3mil)
• Isildur1 is outed as Viktor Bloom...well not offically by anyone but I say it's true! and he finished 15th in the WSOPE Main Event
• Phil Hellmuth did some more retarded sh#@t only this time he did it with a bunch of lady gaga impersonators...SIDE NOTE I first learned to play poker via Hellmuth's Texas Hold'em, now that was some years ago. I fully understand he embraced the "Poker Brat" personality but now,...it's just distracting from poker.
• Gus Hansen wins $658k online
• Tyson "POTTERPOKER" Marks wins the largest online "Prize" for $2.2Million via Pokerstars WCOOP Main Event
• Joe Sebok has videos up called the Poker Mind and he is interviewed by..don't know but she's hot and the interviews are great

• "Ziigmund" destroyed Brian Hastings and Cole South on Full Tilt Poker, placing his online winnings this year to $1.5 million
• Spade Club shut it's doors and redirected all members to Zen Gaming, another membership site
• The WPT Borgata Poker Open culminated to the Championship Event on 9/18 day 5.
• PokerStars Online Team member "Donald" Anders Berg won his 2nd WCOOP bracelet
• "Durrrr" Tom Dwan lost $160k to "AAROOKIE" and is currently still losing his very own "durrrr challenge" to "JungleMan12" to the tune of $700k
• "Sbrugby" Brian Hastings lost $200+k

Happy Labor Day kids! or Chill Day is more like it!  Hope everyone's @ the beach's having a good time and getting a  sweet tan, and here's your poker news from the weekend and a little from last week.

• Poker Hall of Fame nominees came out for 2010 and here's a list of the names for consideration: Chris Ferguson, Barry Greenstein, Jennifer Harman-Traniello, Dan Harrington, Phil Ivey, Linda Johnson, Tom Mcvoy, Daniel Negreanu, Scotty Nguyen and Erik Seidel.

Remember though, of these only 2 will most likely be picked or maybe 3 and my guess for the front runners are Barry Greenstein, Dan Harrington and Scotty Nguyen. With Jennifer Harman, Erik Seidel and Tom Mcvoy close behind. Winners will be honored and announced @ this years WSOP Main Event Final Table in November.

• WPT and Fox Sports have signed a multi-season broadcast deal and promo agreement and will start the season 9 in 2011 with the 179th episode!
• Victory Poker moved to the Cake Network, speaking of which Cake Poker will be running special tourneys starting 9/13 for Monday Night Football, in which players who change their names to represent their fav. teams, will be entered into weekly $500 kamikaze tourneys.
